Happy holidays!
I am going to give away this little still life at the end of the week.
If you subscribe to this blog by email you'll automatically be entered in the drawing.
At the end of the week I'm going to put all the names in a hat, and whoever's name I pull out will get the painting in the mail, free. Just in time for the holidays!
I am trying to figure out the best way to sell my work online and this is a part of the project. Let me know what you think.
Still Life: Pears. Oil on canvas panel, 6 x 8 in. (15.2 x 20.3 cm). Collection of the artist (Only till Friday, December 22!).

Very lush, free painting there Dave!
Thank you!
I'm in!
I'll sign up for the newsletter. Those are some tasty looking pears. They'd look great in my dining room. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
But more importantly, I appreciate what you're doing. As an amateur artist myself, I'll be following what you learn about selling your art sans middleman very closely.
Anyway, I'll pass your contest onto a few people via email, I'll post it on my blog (don't get excited, I just launched it and I can count my regular viewers on one hand...but it's the thought that counts), and I'll "digg" it at digg.com.
Good luck!
Hi Dave, I followed your link from Flickr (just joined the paintings for sale pool - coco2005). I forgot to mention in my post there that I have a blog too. (I hope your experiment works!)
Love the pears.
I see a lot of artists selling via etsy.com
it's kind of ebay for everything handmade.
the key must be as much web presence as you can find and handle - multiple blogging essentially - all pointing to the one trustworthy purchasing house. i also see artists submitting to online prompts/competitions just for the exposure.
(just thoughts off the top of my head mind.)
Thanks for the Digg Tom!
And thank you all for the encouragement and support.
I missed the deadline for the drawing but must say whoever wins will be richly rewarded. These are lovely pears and a gift in the true spirit of the holidays Dave.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/botanicalart Dedicated to the realistic portrayal of plants, flowers, natural science subjects.
Great use of color in the pear painting. I'm also an artist in the middle of setting up a web site for selling direct besides eBay. I thought of using a Blog but, immediately rejected it as I want something more on the edge - photo gallery with flash, shopping cart and payment options. I'm almost there but, it has taken away the time to be painting. Good thing that I have a sister who does graphic design work.
Thank you Denise!
